It’s not the most expensive piece of jewelry, neither is it a trip to an exotic country. It’s something we all need for life. Give your Mom the gift of fitness, starting this Mother’s Day!
I’m pretty sure you know at least one mom that deserves a special gift this year for Mother’s Day. And while you can always go for the usual tokens of affection: flowers, chocolate or perhaps dinner at her favorite restaurant, why not do something different this year? For a change, why not give her a gift that lasts? Doesn't she deserve something more valuable, something that won't wilt, and something that she will surely enjoy for the rest of her life?
What I mean is, give her the gift of FITNESS. Improve her well-being. After all, any woman wants to look and feel better. Give the special Mom in your life this supreme gift of health, because it’s the gift that keeps on giving in more ways than one. With a regular fitness regimen, she wins the healthy figure she has always wanted while avoiding stress and disease. Fitness also reduces her risk for heart ailments and wards off depression.
While fitness gifts are incredibly valuable, they don’t have to be expensive to be effective. Devote quality time to her by teaching her these exercises. Then you can do them together at home!
1. Stretching exercises, even in their most basic form, help her maintain flexibility and range of motion, reduce risk of injury during activity and alleviate cramps brought about by fatigue. Maintain the stretch for a minimum of 15 seconds, with 5 reps. Click here for some stretching exercise flash demos.
2. A simple aerobic workout, such as the step-up exercise using the stairs can give her cardiovascular system an extra boost. Utilize the bottom step of your stairs, or any large, sturdy box you can step on and off of. Step up using your right leg first 12 times, then repeat, this time switch to leading with your left leg. For variety, try stepping side to side. Perform this exercise for 10-15 minutes. This will improve her endurance so that she won't tire easily.
3. Weight lifting can definitely help tone those flabby arms. The weights need not be too heavy, what’s important is you give those muscles enough resistance, challenge them enough toward better form. Click here to see various arm-toning workouts with weights. Eight to 12 repetitions per individual muscle group will be just perfect.
4. Every woman wants a nicely sculpted leg and buttocks. Partial squats and lunges may very well be the answer to that. By holding the position for about 3 to 5 seconds, she will definitely feel the burn.
Give your Mom, or any mom you know, something that supports fitness and wellness - you can turn her life around. When she’s fit, she’ll have you to thank for it. Knowing that someone cared enough to give her the opportunity to improve her health and fitness will make her feel very special. So, when is the perfect time? Now!
